Select Your Hat’s Felt Weight

Dress Weight
Choose this if you want a lighter, refined hat that feels effortless on the head. Ideal for city wear, events, and occasions where comfort and polish matter more than ruggedness.

Mid Weight
If you want one hat that does almost everything, start here. This is the most versatile option we make, structured enough to hold its shape and comfortable enough for daily wear, travel, and long days on the move.

Western Weight
Pick this when durability comes first. Designed for wide brims, bold shaping, and serious outdoor wear. If you want a hat that can handle wind, sun, and long hours outside, this is the right foundation. Recommended for brims over 3 inches.
Custom Felt Hat Orders
Every custom hat begins with your specifications. You choose the felt, color, and style, and we build the hat around those selections.
Step 1. Reach Out
To start a custom hat, fill out the form below with your contact info. Once your request is submitted, we’ll follow up to set up an in-person or virtual appointment to discuss your hat.
Production timelines vary depending on our current workload and the availability of materials. Once your place in line is set, materials for your hat are ordered accordingly.
Step 2: Choose a Color
A select range of felt colors is available in each matieral. Select the shade you’d like your hat made from. This color selection is one of the biggest contributors to the personality of the finished hat.
Rabbit tends to come in the most vivid, bright colors. Nutria comes in more natural earth tones and beaver come in more muted hues of browns, creams and black.
Step 3: Select Your Style
This selection determines the final shape and structure of your hat and directly informs the felt weight and construction used.
Choose the style that reflects how you intend to wear the hat and the silhouette you want long term. Dress styles typically require lighter, more refined felts. Everyday and crossover styles are best suited to mid-weight felts. Traditional Western styles rely on heavier felts to maintain structure and durability.
This choice sets the foundation for your hat. While minor refinements can be made during your fitting or consultation, the overall style selected here will be the final direction. Being decisive at this step helps ensure the hat performs, wears, and ages the way you expect.
Step 4. Select Your Embellishments
This is where your hat becomes personal.
Choose from hat bands, ribbons, stitching, pins, conchos, feathers, and other details to finish your hat. You can keep it minimal or build something more expressive. Embellishments are always optional.
- Some materials and techniques add cost and production time.
- Availability may vary based on felt weight and hat shape.
- If you’re unsure, you can keep this step simple and refine details during your fitting or consultation.
If you have something personal you’d like incorporated, such as a family heirloom, vintage pin, or piece of fabric, let us know here. We’re happy to discuss what’s possible.
